Sara Rauch founded Cactus Heart in 2012 on a lark. (To be fair, most of her important life decisions occur this way.) Sara writes fiction and essays, reviews for Lambda Literary, drinks a lot of coffee, walks everywhere, and has been a cat lady for as long as she can remember. She received her MFA in Fiction from Pacific University, and has worked in publishing for the better part of a decade. When she’s not word-wrangling, you’ll find her outside, searching for wild animals, keys, stones, and signs from the Universe. Or drinking bourbon in the sun. Either way, she’ll probably be barefoot. Agastya Ma’ii, Fiction Reader
Agastya Ma’ii quit his job to travel and write. He is a creative writing mentee through the University of British Columbia. He especially loves the individual aromas of pine and coffee, but loathes faulty coffee cup caps (he has come across too many of poor construction). Sometimes, he can be seen yelling at the hot Guatemalan roast, trickling onto the skin of his metacarpals on the streets of New York City. Listen to his experiments at midnightmonologue.com.
Elise Poll, Poetry Reader
Elise Poll was born and raised in the Arizona desert and still finds solace in the heat. She enjoys quick wit and the chance to feel with her whole being. Elise writes poetry, walks her dog, and is married to an awesome dude. She looks forward to reading the heaps of poetry submissions and hopes to find pieces that wound as they heal.
